Hello again!

Hello!,

It has been longer between posts that normal because for the last few days I have been the Isle Of Wight and we didn't really have Internet access there so I couldn't come chat to you :P I had a great time, I got some great fabric bargains and I also bought and ate alot of yummy handmade fudge- honeycomb and millionaire shortcake flavour, mmmmmmmmm! Hehehe I still have some left but I am sure not for long :0)

In the evenings I also managed to get a lot further on the Twinkie Chan Pizza scarf I started making ages ago, I just have the sauce, crust and toppings left to do now:

It is very long, I'm sure it will keep m very warm, even though it is coming up to summer that is still good as I am always cold!

Before I went away I also finished this Dolphin cross stitch kit:

I think it is soo sweet. I have got a little collection of mini cross stitch kits that I have finished building up. I will have to start thinking of something to do with them :P

I hope you have all been having a nice time and now I am back I am thinking of doing another giveaway soon so keep your eyes peeled! :)

See you soon,

Chinese New Year (+ my button box :)

 Hi,

Happy (belated) Chinese New Year everyone! Even though I am not Chines, nor do I have any Chinese relatives I love to celebrate Chinese New year (as some of you will know from me posting up the chopstick case pattern I made one year :P). This year I had two special Chinese dinners, a takeaway one and a homemade one and I did this cross stitch kit in celebration:

The fan was a little mouseleoft kit and I added the writing to commemorate this year :) I think I am going to turn it into a pincushion using some oriental style silky fabric I have as a backing and I might maybe add a charm to the corner too to make it extra pretty :-)

On the Sunday of Chinese New Year I also went to see Cirque De Soliel 'Kooza' with my mum at the Royal Albert hall :D my parents had got me the tickets as a gift and it was AMAZING!!!!!! I can highly recommend it to everyone! The acts were mind blowing and the costumes were so detailed and interesting, I couldn't take my eyes away! On the way to the show we stopped off in John Lewis as I had finally chosen the sewing machine my parents promised me I could have for my Birthday and we ordered that which should be coming soon, I am soo excited :0D (so basically I had the best day ever! :P I  hope you all had a lovely weekend too)

And now, as promised I finally bring you all the pictures of the giant button box my nan gave me:

There are just soooooo many pretty/cool buttons...... I know they will all come in handy on some project at some point in the future.

See you all soon,

Byeeee! xxx

P.S. Happy Valentines day for tomorrow I hope you all have a super day with your loved ones!

Bye :o)

Comic relief/ Red nose day Monster :0) Free pattern!

Hello everyone :)

It has been a while since I put up a free pattern and I had a request posted on my Red nose day monster post  about possibly making the pattern available so one could be made to be raffled off to support comic relief. (Red Nose Day is a day organised by the charity comic relief which support all different kinds of charitable projects around the world and in the UK, and yes, for those that don't know, you can wear a red nose on that day to show support! :P Comic relief challenge people do do fun stuff to raise money for the charity too).

I had made the pattern up as part my idea to be sponsored to knit something in order to help the charity, but I thought the idea of raffling a monster off was a great idea too! I scrabbled around and found the bit of paper I jotted the pattern on and I bring it to you here today so you get creative and help out the cause too if you want too- Red nose day is coming up on the 15th of March! :-)

Please do let me know any other ideas of how you could use the pattern and send me pictures of your monsters too if you make any to iitki@hotmail.co.uk :)

Here is a reminder picture of my little monster:

And here is how to make your own:

You will need:

3.75 mm needles

Red DK yarn

Several handfuls of toy stuffing

Googly eyes and glue to stick them on (or your choice of eyes)

A darning needle

Scissors

A crochet hook (for pulling through and attaching the hair)

A large pom pom for the nose (you can buy one or make your own)

White felt for the tooth decoration (or whatever decoration you want)

Pattern:

Body (make two):

*Cast on 10 sts

K 1 row

P1, Pfb, P to last 2 sts, Pfb, P1

Stst 8 rows*

Leave these sts on the needle and repeat from *to* for next foot

K 1 row (across both feet to join them)

**P1, Pfb, P to last 2 sts, Pfb, P1

K 1 row**

Repeat from ** to **

P1, Pfb, P to last 2 sts, Pfb, P1

K1, Kfb, K to last 2 sts, Kfb, K1

P1, Pfb, P to last 2 sts, Pfb, P1

Stst 18 rows

K2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2tog

P 1 row

***K2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2tog

P 1 row***

Repeat from *** to *** 4 more times

“”K2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2tog

P2tog, P to last 2 sts, P2tog””

Repeat from “” to “” two more times (leaving 10 sts on the needle)

Cast off in K but K2tog at each end as cast off

Making up:

Sew the two body pieces right side together leaving an opening at the top, turn right side out, stuff and sew up the opening by overstitching. Add all the face decoration e.g. glue on the googly eyes and small triangles of white felt for teeth and sew on the big pom-pom nose. Then cut many lengths of yarn double the length you want for the hair of your monster, fold in half and use the crochet hook to pull through the top of your monsters head and  tuck the ends through the loop you pull trough and pull to fasten the hair on. Repeat till your monster has lovely thick flowing hair! :P

Then you are all done, and you can have fun and help out with your new monster friend!

I hope you like the pattern, if you have any questions or issues (seen as I got the pattern from my scribbledy notes, don't hesitate to comment below and I will reply :-)

See you all soon, byeeeeeeeeee XXX

P.S. I am using standard UK knitting abbreviations :)
